Pav’s Blueberry is a tart tug-of-war between about 3,000 lbs of Michigan blueberries, a dash of vanilla and the benevolent bacteria lactobacillus.
The aromas are of fresh blueberry pie – the flavour is earthy, floral and tangy sweet with just enough salt to bring out the blueberry flavour and round out the tartness at the finish.
Look for big, bright blueberry flavour with a gentle hint of pie crust from the malt base and vanilla infusion.
We’ve been fans of the creamy goodness of our local ice cream shop, Pav’s Creamery, for many decades. What’s more, the people who own and run the place are exceptional in every way. When the great trend of ice cream makers and brewers collaborating on brands together was at its zenith, around 2017 or so, we reached out to Pav’s owner Nik Pappas one day, which it turns out wasn’t that hard to do because he was actually at our taproom enjoying a Tanglefoot IPA at the time.
We talked into the night about ice and cream and malt and sugar and fruit and deliciousness. Since then we’ve done a periodic series of collabs with the same regularity that Curb Your Enthusiasm released seasons. Along the way we might have had some bourbon and Malört and even sounded the alpenhorn a few times, but those are details for other stories…
A few months after that first meeting we launched the first collab between us – a Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake beer we called, appropriately, Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. The brand was a hit and was followed up by all sorts of goodies like Salted Caramel, Cherry Vanilla and now Blueberry Tart.
Enjoy this edition of our ongoing collaboration and stay tuned to the ongoing saga — the next edition will be released promptly as the mood strikes us.
