EF1 is our way of personifying an event that is indelibly etched into the cultural and historical fabric of our little brewery. Unfiltered and aggressively dry-hopped with highly sought after Idaho 7 and Citra hops, this hazy IPA fruit-forward flavor, modest bitterness, and a finish so smooth it’ll blow you away.
Look for dank and floral aromas followed by a whirlwind of tropical, fruity flavours —notably melon, mango and a touch of grapefruit.
On October 21, 2021 at about 5:30 PM, an EF1 twister touched down about a half mile away from our Brewhouse + Cannery in Jackson Township, Ohio. It skipped around a bit doing little bits of damage along the way, but just before it finally skipped off into history, it clipped the back corner of our building and gently lifted the roof of the building before gently laying it back down again just a little askew of where it had been for the previous 40 years.
In the process, the pressure also blew one of our garage doors 20 feet into into the building. The ensuing damage was done mostly by the water — first by our sprinkler system that had been disconnected in several places and then by a couple days of rain coming through the holes in the roof. The whole event lasted 5 seconds, but the damage took over a year to overcome.
Shortly after, we brewed our New England IPA and were inspired by its whirlwind of flavors with a subtle, pleasant finish. A perfect homage to the EF1 tornado that ever so slightly lifted the roof of our brewhouse and forever left its mark on our brewery.
